You will be learning all you need to know about structural analysis of low-rise steel buildings using STAAD Pro in your professional career according to international norms like American codes and standards. The course will be discussing very essential topics, including assigning load combinations according to ASCE7/IBC, crane, wind and seismic load applications according to ASCE7/MBMA and UBC 97 respectively as well as the design of the crane runway beam. Moreover, you will learn how to check your structure's deflection against the serviceability requirements/limits and optimization of steel section sizes as per codes ASCE7/IBC. Furthermore, design of composite beam, deck slab, purlins, truss, generating reports, getting base support reactions, beam end forces, stress ratios of members, member take off, using STAAD editor, using Section Wizard to import user-customized sections and many more interesting and important topics. You will also be exposed to steel material properties and mechanics will be discussed in the course: lateral vs local buckling, compact vs non-compact vs slender sections, grades of steel, member capacity calculation etc. This course is for engineers who would like to pursue or enhance their career in the structural steel industry either in a structural steel fabrication company or an engineering consultancy.

Hi, I'm Islam Abdelaty

I am a Structural Design Engineer and PMP (Project Management Professional), with a vast experience in structural design of hot rolled and PEB steel structures in a leading structural steel fabrication company. I have designed various projects of different types: industrial (e.g. warehouses, workshops with overhead crane facility etc.) and oil & gas (e.g. pipe racks, platforms etc.). residential (e.g. villas and multi story buildings) and commercial (e.g. shopping malls, sport clubs, cinemas, multi-purpose and marriage halls etc.).

I also have experience in designing concrete structures of different purposes with different types of slabs, foundations, shear walls and retaining walls. Moreover, I have also designed composite structures: steel and RCC.

In addition, I have knowledge about offshore structure design; i.e. fixed offshore platforms / topsides and jackets; performing pre-service, in-place, seismic, fatigue and joint can analyses as well as pile soil interaction.

I am proficient in using the following software: STAAD Pro, Tekla Structures, AutoCAD (Autodesk Certified Professional), Revit (Autodesk Certified Professional), ETABS, Prokon, SAFE, SACS, Microsoft Office and Primavera.
